Current Project & Other Sculpture

This current project tells the story a battle from a lost civilization. The soldiers on the left are the victors who offer peace to the defeated. The leader of the group on the right-hand side declines the offer but here, in this depiction, one of his men isn't so sure he wants to follow him to the death.
The figures are constructed strictly anatomically first, then clothing and armor are added later, however, the victorious group in this battle –the defending group– had introduced armor for the first time to their civilization in this battle. They were fighting for their religious rights, family, and land. The aggressors, on the other hand, wore no armor at all.
The event is described in the Book of Alma, chapter 44, a book in The Book of Mormon. The title of this piece will be, "We Do Not Desire to Be Men of Blood".
Other completed sculpture is also shown below.
